The study, published in the journal Cognitive, Affective, & Behavioral Neuroscience, identifies two types: aggressive (or agentic) and affiliative extraversion.
Aggressive extroverts are enterprising people. They are confident, persevering, and they are driven by success. They feel comfortable in the spotlight and will not miss the opportunity to take a leadership position.
Affiliative extroverts are lovers of socializing. They are friendly and can easily melt the ice in a conversation with a stranger. For them, close relationships are very important, usually, these people have a lot of friends.
Ambiverts are between an introvert and an extrovert. Ambiverts are the majority of people. According to Barry Smith, professor of psychology, 68% of the population make ambitions.
People of this type feel good in society, but at the same time, it is important for them to sometimes be alone. They cannot be sociable for too long or, conversely, alone. It is very important for them to observe the balance, the inclination to introvert or extraversion varies depending on the situation.
